Well I started my new job this week running a Learning and Leisure Center for young adults who have a moderate to low intellectual and/or physical disability. This week has been pretty trying, as I've been working fairly long hours getting everything organised, the center hasn't had an actual director for some time now, so the workers have just been doing what they can with the help of other Support Coordinators from other services, so it's a bit of a mess. And of course I am coming into the job right at budget time, so there are budgets to be organised and submissions to be applied for etc, so that's a bit of a worry, and needs attention right away. But all in all, it's a much better atmosphere than CPU, and once the 'hump' is over and the office is back up and running better, and all the budgets and submissions are taken care of, I will be able to do a lot more hands on work as well, so that's awesome! It gets a bit mundane just doing the usual crap, and not being able to get in there on the front line so to speak. I am going to be organising a working bee for the workers and hopefully their family will help out also, to fix up the center a bit, it's somewhat run down, and could do with a coat of paint, some new posters etc, but we just don't get the funding to cover that sort of thing, so hoping the working bee will be met with enthusiasm.
Also I am house hunting. ARGH!!!!!!! I think I am just going to give up and live in a box. I have an appointment to see a house tomorrow at Logan, in a nice are, just up from the train station, which is really handy as I'd love to take the train to and from work if possible. I have got my application ready to go so that if I like the place I can just hand it in tomorrow. I've driven past, and while it's an older style home, it's nice and tidy and seems in good condition. So I'm hoping it's nice inside and I get it. It's 3 bedroom which is what I'd ideally like, even though we don't strictly need 3 bedrooms, nice big back yard etc. I so hope I get it..
